"An Authentic Taste of Mexico in Toronto"

In April 1998, proprietor Alejandra Hernandez opened up her first restaurant - and had an immediate hit on her hands.  Mariachis, named after the famed music that is popular both in Mexico and here in Canada, has enjoyed overwhelming success since opening its doors.

“We serve authentic Mexican meals, using the freshest of ingredients, in a warm, welcoming atmosphere," says Alejandra. "Mariachis is like a mini-fiesta - I encourage my patrons to bring their family, their friends or enjoy some one-on-one time.

Alejandra credits her restaurant’s success to its cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

"People often want to escape the cold outside and enjoy a warm and friendly Latin environment," she says.

The menu at Mariachi’s ranges from standard fare such as burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and sizzling fajitas (a favourite!), to more substantial entrees, such as the fish of the day (often salmon), the Steak Pepino and the seafood or “mariscada” platter for two, featuring giant shrimps, scallops and mussels.  All dishes are served with salad, rice, and refried beans tasty enough to convert even the most avid refried bean hater. Appetizers include complimentary nacho chips and salsa, zesty green salads, and guacamole which many patrons call “the best in Toronto.”

"We also offer non-spicy versions for most of the items on our menu," says Alejandra, sensitive to the fact that some diner's tummies can't handle hot Mexican food.

“Each dish has its own personality and we take great care in our presentation,” sums up Alejandra, adding the restaurant also serves authentic Mexican cocktails such as Margaritas and Tequilatinis as well as a wide selection of Mexican beer.

“I want to continue to serve all my loyal customers, and make many new friends,” says Alejandra.  “Everyone needs a bit of Latin hospitality to brighten up their lives!
